Rugby for Everyone
We run a full range of teams for all ages and abilities:
- Our Men’s First XV competes in Counties 2 Durham & Northumberland, with aims for promotion into DN1. While the Boars are a social rugby side, competing in Candy Division Three North.
- Our Women’s team is growing rapidly, with a real focus on development and inclusion, and aims to be a strong competitive team within the next few years.
- We have a thriving junior section, starting with tag rugby for our youngest players right through to under-18s, our minis and junior section is one of the largest in the county!
Whether you’re picking up a ball for the first time or returning to the game, there’s a place for you at Houghton.
Our Facilities and Future
You’ll find us at Dairy Lane, where we have a welcoming clubhouse and well-maintained pitches. In 2024, we were granted planning approval for a new single-storey extension to add separate changing rooms and improve parking facilities. These upgrades reflect our commitment to growing the women’s game and creating a better experience for all members.
Strong Partnerships
We’re proud of our connection with the Newcastle Falcons, who recognised us as their Club of the Month in 2022. Our players regularly get the chance to attend coaching clinics, match-day events, and even play at Kingston Park, helping us inspire the next generation of rugby talent.
Join Us
Our senior men train on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, and women training on Tuesdays, while our mini and junior teams train throughout the week and play on Sunday's. Whether you’re looking to play, coach, volunteer, or just be part of something local and meaningful, you’ll always be welcome here.
